Most people have an innate desire to be recognized for the work that we do no matter how small it is in the whole process, it is a part of our human existence. When businesses, whether big or small, recognize the hard work done by its employees it serves to truly motivate the employee and make them more eager to show up for work each day. Employees will be encouraged to perform well beyond the task at hand and produce at a consistently high level. They will become more creative and full of energy on the job, and feel as if they belong to a company that cares about them and the work they do. They in turn will care about the company and its continued success and growth. This will by extension impact on the productivity of the company as a whole and is overall profitability and growth.
One of the major benefits of recognizing hard
work through an
employee recognition program is the overall increase in employee
retention. The more motivated an employee is the less likely they are to
leave the job. Once employees are happy with their work because they are
being recognized for it then they will remain loyal to the company.
Every time an organization looses an employee due to resignation or otherwise it will
end up costing the company thousands and possibly millions of dollar in lost work that those persons could have performed.
The cost is most evident if the company had spent money training and grooming the employees for the job they held.
It will then be extremely difficult to replace them. It will cost the company more money and time to also train someone new to fill
the post and then more time and money will be lost as this new person attempts to do the job at a high level.
Companies therefore can ill afford to lose key employees especially in key positions.
It becomes necessary then for businesses to find ways to keep these employees happy and satisfied with working for the organization.
